Fresh off graduating three of its four leaders in points, assists, rebounds, and steals per game from the 2024-25 season, Cherokee Trail girls basketball is your Section 7 ASEC bracket champion.

The Cougars won three of their four games by 10 points or more, beating Canyon View (AZ) 61-50, Skyridge (UT) 70-28, Albuquerque (NM) 55-45, and Hobbs (NM) 51-48. The Hobbs team they beat in the finals went 29-2 last season and was the No. 2 team in New Mexico.

Last season, the Cougars went 15-10 despite playing one of the hardest schedules in Colorado and made the second round of the CHSAA 6A playoffs, coming one overtime bucket short of the quarterfinals. Six of their losses came against out-of-state teams on national radars – mostly in very competitive fashion – and four of their five in-state losses were by single-digits as well, all of which came against Colorado's premier squads.

Despite graduating three of its top producers, Cherokee Trail will be led by one of Colorado's top returning guards/wings next season in 5-foot-11 rising senior Aaliyah Broadus. Broadus led the team with 13.8 points and 1.8 steals per game last season to go with 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists, and she shot 27-66 from three (41% 3FG). If Section 7 was any indication, Broadus and co. are ready for another strong season this winter.
