Chelsea’s ‘desperate’ transfer demand shocks suitors as one big name heads for the exit

7 hours ago 1

Chelsea are eager to get rid of Joao Felix in the ongoing summer transfer window, despite the player joining the Blues less than a year ago.

The Portuguese international spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but was criticised for his below-par performances by the Italian media, so a permanent move to Milan was never an option.

It has now been reported that Benfica are keen to bring the winger back home to Portugal, and Felix, too, is keen on the deal.

However, Chelsea’s valuation of the player could be a stumbling block in any possible deal with the Portuguese giants.

Enzo Maresca’s team currently value Felix at more than what Benfica are willing to pay for his services.

In such a situation, it may become increasingly difficult for Chelsea to find any potential suitors for Felix.

Chelsea want £43m to sell Felix this summer

Joao Felix celebrates for Chelsea

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are looking for an offer around £43m ($57m) for Felix this summer.

Interestingly, since Chelsea signed Felix for £45m ($60m) last summer, they are essentially looking to regain their money for the player, which may be difficult as the player made only 20 appearances last season.

Despite not having found any potential suitors for Felix, Chelsea have made it clear that the player will not feature for them again.

Additionally, Felix’s old shirt number has been handed to Dario Essugo, who is set for a big season at Stamford Bridge as a backup to Moises Caicedo.
