Chelsea reveal hefty price tag for defender amid La Liga interest

With the summer transfer window only a few weeks away, teams and players have started to make calls around the globe to get their next moves figured out. One of those players appears to be Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, who has been previously reported as keen on a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The decision to move on from The Blues comes after the team struggled domestically, finishing mid-table in the tenth spot, meaning they’ll miss out on European football as a whole.

Given that the bright lights of the Champions League, among other competitions at their respective levels, were one of the main pulling powers by Chelsea, with it gone, there seems to be a sense of discontent.

While previous reports had stated that the executives at Stamford Bridge weren’t too worried about a potential exit given the time left on the Spaniard’s contract, it appears that they’ve come up with a price to sell their prized full-back.

What is the Blues' asking price?

As reported by TalkSports’ Ben Jacobs, the Blues are willing to let Cucurella leave the club for a price tag of £61 million.

“Chelsea’s starting valuation is expected to start around €70m [£61m],” stated Jacobs.

It’s not known how this affects the interest of the several European clubs that are interested in acquiring Cucurella’s talents, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid all being linked with him in the last few days.

If this is the price tag that the Blues have set on Cucurella, it would pretty much match the £62 million fee they paid out to fellow Premier League suit, Brighton, to pick up the talented defender back in 2022.

If the Spaniard is to depart Stamford Bridge, it’d bring what has been a four-season stint in West London, one in which he’s taken to the pitch a total of 163 times.
