Tensions flared between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets last night, as the Hornets were looking to earn their 10th straight win.
Centers Moussa Diabate and Jalen Duren got into it, with veterans Miles Bridges and Isaiah Stewart coming to their defense. These four were eventually ejected.
It all began with a hard foul from Diabate on Duren, but it was later escalated by the players butting heads and then Duren eventually pushing Diabate's face.
All chaos ensued after, with both benches clearing. Hornets head coach Charles Lee added his name to the list of ejections, after he was thrown out by the referees for a verbal altercation following the scrum.
When speaking about the brawl after the game, Hornets' leading scorer Brandon Miller had a simple answer: "It was fun. Next question."
That said, Charlotte's "fun" may have come at a cost. While the NBA has yet to comment on the issue, suspensions are likely to be handed out.
In anticipation of those, the Hornets have been proactive, calling up PJ Hall from the Greensboro Swarm (Charlotte's G-League affiliate) Tuesday.
Hall is the third true center rostered by Charlotte and will likely step into a backup role behind Ryan Kalkbrenner if Diabate were to be suspended.
Grant Williams and Xavier Tillman Sr. may also be poised for larger roles if Bridges is suspended as well.
The Hornets will face the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday night with the opportunity to move to ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a win.
