The Charlotte Hornets have been rolling as of late, and that mostly involves LaMelo Ball showing why he is the franchise's cornerstone. He is one of the most unique point guards in the league because of his fantastic skill set.
Ball is one of the most explosive scorers in the point guard position. At the same time, he is also quite a reliable playmaker. Due to him being a bigger point guard, some people have also compared him to Luka Doncic.
Green sees the similarities between Ball and Doncic
Josh Green played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2020 to 2024. That meant he experienced being on the same roster as Doncic for a long while. Green benefited from being teammates with him, as he was a reliable wing.
Green is now with the Hornets, as he was part of the six-team trade in 2024. Since then, Green has been playing for the Hornets, where he regularly sees Ball standing out as the team's star player.

While the consensus is that Doncic is better than Ball, there are still comparisons. They are both giant point guards, but most of the time, it is only Doncic who takes advantage of that. He can overpower his defenders with constant post-ups.
Ball plays more freely, as he loves taking his matchup off the dribble. He also thrives more in transition, as he loves setting up alley-oops. Both players have a unique feel for the game, which makes them such hard players to go up against.
"Some of the stuff he does is similar to Luka. It's a different type of feel for the game. His best skill is his confidence. It's truly a skill to have that level of confidence to be able to do what you do on the court. It's impressive," Green said on Run Your Race.
"He's a great guy, obviously an amazing basketball player, and a talent that doesn't come around often."
Ball and the Hornets are not on the same level as Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers. However, that should not discount what the Hornets have been doing as of late.
They are rolling and are looking to reach the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Charles Barkley has guaranteed them to be part of the postseason, which is some pressure on them, but Ball and his teammates are ready.
