Charles Barkley passionately calls out the Spurs for being the "dumbest team" in history

Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals was one of the most nail-biting basketball games of all time. The San Antonio Spurs were supposed to cruise to victory after taking a 29-point lead, but that was not the case.

They blew that lead with some of the worst decisions they could have made. That has led to people calling them out, including former league MVP Charles Barkley. He is unhappy with how they played the game, especially since they held a massive lead.

Charles Barkley puts the Spurs on blast after the Game 4 collapse

The Spurs kept making bad decisions, and the New York Knicks managed to catch up and get their rhythm. It is one of the worst collapses in recent NBA history, and unfortunately for the Spurs, it happened in the Finals.

Now, the Spurs are headed back home to San Antonio carrying a 3-1 deficit. That is not the optimal result because they had a 2-2 series in their hands, but they let go of that in spectacular fashion.

After Game 4, Barkley was part of the panel alongside Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny "The Jet" Smith, and Draymond Green. They were all baffled by what happened, but it was Barkley who was the most passionate about the Spurs' mistakes.

"We saw the dumbest basketball team in the history of civilization. We saw they had a 25-point lead; they took eight straight threes. That was one of the most mismanaged, stupid basketball," Barkley said in a candid post-game segment on Inside the NBA.

It will not be hard for people to agree with what Barkley said. The Spurs did let the Knicks come back into the game, and now they are facing the consequences. Their backs are now firmly against the wall with a 3-1 deficit.

A comeback is not out of the realm of possibilities. However, people will find it hard to see the Knicks losing three games in a row. It will be challenging, but the Spurs welcome the challenge. Unfortunately, they could have avoided that by making smarter decisions in Game 4.
