Najee Harris has not gotten his Los Angeles Chargers tenure off to a good start.
The former Steelers running back injured his eye in a fireworks accident on July 4.
GM Joe Hortitz told reporters Wednesday that Harris is still at Stanford with the doctors that initially treated him.
"We felt like, hey, you're there with those doctors, they're great, get everything cleared up there," Hortiz said. "Because we could have brought him back here, but let's take care of the medical part with the experts up there, and our doctors know them well and are highly complimentary of those doctors. Stanford doctors are going to be pretty good. So we feel like he's in the best hands right now."

The latest update came Thursday.
The Chargers placed Harris on the non-football injury list.
It's a somewhat procedural move, given that Harris can be taken off the list at any time.
But it does imply Harris won't be showing up to training camp ready to rock quite yet.
From here, Chargers fans will have to just wait for further news on their new running back.
