The Boston Celtics are the center of everyone's consequential trade rumors this offseason.
That's what happens after a surprising second-round loss to the Knicks and a terrible Achilles injury for Jayson Tatum.
The main question remaining: Who exactly does Boston want?
Fansided recently made one prediction that involves star guard Derrick White actually going to the Detroit Pistons in a trade.
The article suggests moving White helps keep the balance between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
"Boston's trade exploits will be complicated by their inability to aggregate contracts due to the CBA's second apron," Christopher Kline wrote. "That said, every contender should place a phone call about Derrick White, whose four-year, $70 million contract extends through the 2029 season. It's fair to wonder how exactly his deal will age, but White is smack in the middle of his prime at 30 years old and $29.5 million annually is solid value in today's NBA."

Detroit could certainly use a piece like White.
"The Detroit Pistons will be looking for ways to take the next step after their surprise top-five finish," Kline wrote. "Folks will point to Jaden Ivey's impending return as a reason to steer clear of backcourt upgrades, but Cade Cunningham is guarding wings. They can all play together. White gives Detroit another top-tier perimeter stopper next to Ausar Thompson, allowing the Pistons to lean full-stop into their classic Bad Boys reputation.
"In addition to stifling defense, White has developed into a knockdown shooter and a bonafide point guard. He can help organize the offense when Cunningham sits or bomb 3s when Cunningham is setting the table. White's high basketball IQ and selfless play style ensure that he is almost always impacting winning. This trade puts Detroit on the right path."
The proposed deal sends White one way with Ron Holland and a future first-rounder as a solid haul the other way. Then the Celtics threw in new center Isaiah Stewart as the most entertaining, because he once chased LeBron around the floor after an on-court conflict. He's also known for his occasional technical fouls.
Boston might want more than this for White, but at some point, the Celtics have to move money and think about the future. This might be the way.
