Celtics 'most definitely' looking to trade All-Star after Jayson Tatum injury

The Jayson Tatum Achilles injury changed everything in Boston.

The Celtics may have looked to change up their roster this offseason anyway, but now every move takes on a different sort of tone.

One name that has been frequently in trade speculation is star defensive guard Jrue Holiday.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Celtics are “most definitely listening to trade calls” involving Holiday.

Holiday turns 35 on Thursday, June 12.

He still has three years remaining on his contract, making him both a tricky hold for the Celtics but also a tricky acquisition for another team.

The two-time All Star and champion is also a six-time All-Defensive member.

This season, Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 35.3% from 3, his worst mark in six years.

A team trading for Holiday would likely hope that his 3-point shot could swing back upward again a little bit. He may not fit a long contention window, but he has helped both the Bucks and the Celtics win championships, and he may still have enough ability inside him to get a third team to the biggest trophy in the NBA.
