During the summer, the Boston Celtics made the decision to split Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown up by trading the former Finals MVP to the Philadelphia 76ers. It was a messy ending to Brown’s career in Boston.

Brown’s name had been brought up in trade rumors for a couple of years, and those rumors finally became reality this offseason. Brown made his frustrations known over the summer.

“I wasn't thrilled with how the conversation was facilitated. I did feel like it was a lack of respect. At one point it was fine, and then out of nowhere it just went left. I definitely think there's more to it. There definitely is more to it. I know Brad is getting a lot of criticism, but I just wish more of it could have been explained. I just wish they had the respect to tell me exactly what it was, and I would have understood and respected that," Brown said.

Brown has been called out over the last couple of weeks for allegedly giving Boston a list of demands. However, the 76ers forward made it clear that he would not let false accusations follow him into the next chapter of his career.

“I Never had any issues with Scal. I love Scal, but I guess he's doing what he what he has to do. I can understand why he feels the need to do that, but I have no interest of letting any false allegations following me until my next chapter here in Philadelphia,” Brown told the media.

Recently, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix revealed that Tatum’s biggest regret throughout the trade saga was not publicly supporting Brown.

“He did say to me that he wished that he had been more publicly vocal about supporting Jaylen during the trade talks over the years. Like maybe he supported behind the scenes, and people close to Tatum have insisted that behind the scenes he has told the Celtics over the years that this team was better with Jaylen Brown on it, but publicly he hasn't been as vocal. He did tell me he regretted that back in 2024,” Mannix said.

If that is the case, Tatum publicly supporting Brown could have solved many problems and shown him that he wasn't trying to push him out of Boston. However, that is not what transpired, which only made the entire saga messier.

From Brown’s perspective, there is absolutely no love lost. Considering everything the former Celtic accomplished in Boston, it is a disappointing way for his tenure with the franchise to end. If Tatum had publicly supported him throughout the process, Brown might not be calling him out the way he is now.
