The Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was the center of some rumors this offseason, specifically rumors about being approached for the head coach job for the New York Knicks

However, these rumors actually never reached Mazzulla himself. According to Mazzulla on the Zo and Bertrand radio show, he never plans on leaving Boston.

“That never reached me. There is only one team that I want to coach: it’s the Boston Celtics. I’m going to be here for however long ownership and the city will have me. There is no other team that I’m coaching, it’s here or I’m going to coach my kid’s soccer team or something like that,” Mazzulla stated.

Since the 2022-23 season, Mazzulla has recorded a 182-64 record and a 33-17 record in the playoffs, with multiple Eastern Conference Finals appearances and an NBA Championship under his belt.

In addition to all that, Mazzulla is only 37 years old. He’s got so much gas left in the tank to the point he could be the Celtics coach for decades. That is, as long as Boston wants to keep him, which it seems they definitely do.

Hopefully, Mazzulla gets a large long-term contract and keeps leading the franchise in a winning direction.
