Celtics could replace Jaylen Brown's production by signing LeBron James after blockbuster trade

The Boston Celtics shocked the NBA world by trading one of their franchise superstars in Jaylen Brown to a division rival in the Philadelphia 76ers, and now will have to find a way to make up for his production in the aggregate.

Paul George will take his spot in the starting five, and Boston is also probably counting on Payton Pritchard to take the next step as a superstar-in-the-making. However, one other choice is out there. They could sign a former franchise enemy to have his swan song with the C’s in LeBron James.

Just recently, LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul, revealed on the Game Over Pod some realistic locations for the 22-time All-Star to land in his potentially final season

While not one of the main teams in the middle, Boston made the outside, with “Brad + Tatum” being the driving reasons why, Brad being GM Brad Stevens, and Tatum being Jayson Tatum.

On top of that, LeBron is willing to take a veteran’s minimum contract in order to play for a contender, so if he likes what he sees with Boston, it would be easy to afford him with their current constraints.

Even while LeBron is going into his age-42 season, he still would make this team a whole lot better. He just came off a season where he averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals in 33 minutes per game.

He was the borderline second option for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, and for his age, he probably shouldn’t have been. So, if he were on the Celtics, he would be able to take another step back, but still bring some quality numbers to the table.

If LeBron were to join Boston, he would be a starter, no doubt. In that case, Pritchard would probably go back to being the sixth man full time, a spot where he had thrived.

This would give the Celtics a starting five of Derrick White, Paul George, LeBron, Tatum, and either Mitchell Robinson or Neemias Queta in the middle. This would give Boston three forwards in their starting lineup, but honestly, it could work.

So, if LeBron were to join, it would make Boston a real contender. However, it won’t be catastrophic if he doesn’t join, either.
