Is Boston Celtics GM Brad Stevens happy with the job that head coach Joe Mazzulla has done?
Boston won a championship under Mazzulla in 2024, yet Celtics fans remain divided about Mazzulla, pointing to mismanagement of winnable series in the 2023 and 2025 postseasons.
On Monday, the world caught a glimpse of how Stevens feels about Mazzulla when Hardwood Houdini's Jack Simone asked Stevens a Mazzulla-themed question during a press conference.
“In this new era of how quickly coaches get fired … how pleased have you been with the Joe the last three years?” Simone asked Stevens, per CLNS Media's Noa Dalzell.
“Yeah, Joe’s great,” Stevens said. “Joe's done a great job.”

Stevens also talked about the mid-season firings of Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone.
“I don't think anyone in coaching ever thought it was certain," Stevens continued. "So I think uncertainty is what you signed up for in some ways.”
“But listen, there's so many things that go into winning and losing."
“I know how hard their jobs are and I've felt for Taylor and for Mike … and obviously talked to both of them. But every year, you know, good coaches get let go.”
"And they're way better than everybody talks about. I'm just telling you because I coached against them. They're way better than everybody thinks or knows.”
“But that's reality of our situation because that's the way the world works … there's other coaches that are really good, too, that'll get their opportunities.”
“But yeah, we're lucky that we have Joe here.”
“We're lucky that we have the staff we have here and we're thankful.”
Mazzulla, who will turn 37 in June, holds an impressive 182-64 regular season record in three seasons at the helm of the Celtics. He's 33-17 in the playoffs.
