The Nebraska Cornhuskers turned a corner this past season under Matt Rhule and are looking to do more damage this fall. Although it appears lofty, the College Football Playoff intends to be the destination worth reaching to make the fans in Lincoln happy.
CBS Sports' Chip Patterson isn't putting it past the Cornhuskers to get it done, but there may be a few hurdles they'll have to overcome.
"[Dylan] Raiola is a top-tier talent, and Holgorsen has a proven track record as an offensive mind," Patterson wrote. "If coach Matt Rhule lets that duo operate freely, Nebraska could field an offensive attack capable of stressing Big Ten defenses."
Luckily for the Cornhuskers, their schedule sets up nicely. Their toughest game through the season's first month is Michigan, a team still undecided on who its starting quarterback will be. They also only draw one CFP-bound team from this past season, Penn State, as the Cornhuskers travel to State College in their second-to-last game.
Patterson went further, which included predicting an ideal win total to qualify amongst the field.
"A high-flying Nebraska team could win 10 games, especially with no Ohio State or Oregon on the schedule and both Michigan and USC coming to Lincoln," Patterson wrote.

Either way, it should set up for an exciting season for the Cornhuskers in a conference that will have a plethora of contenders vying for a spot in Indianapolis come December.
The Cornhuskers open the season with the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on Thursday, Aug. 28.
