The Cleveland Cavaliers are going to look for the same success as they had in the regular season last year, where they finished with a record of 64-18 and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Their first assignment will be against another top team in the East, first-year head coach Mike Brown and the New York Knicks.
Heading into the Wednesday night game, an injury report came out for the Cavaliers. The list includes three of Cleveland's top rotational players from last year.
Cavaliers list Darius Garland, Max Strus, and De'Andre Hunter on injury report vs. Knicks
Just over 24 hours before the tip-off between the Cavaliers and the Knicks, NBA insider Evan Dammarell announced that Cleveland listed Darius Garland (toe) and Max Strus (foot) as out for the contest, while De'Andre Hunter (knee contusion) is a game-time decision.
Darius Garland is still dealing with the recovery process from undergoing toe surgery back in June, while Max Strus underwent a procedure after suffering a fracture in his foot in August.
De'Andre Hunter suffered a knee contusion after bumping knees with another player in the Cavaliers' preseason finale on Oct. 14.
It's looking like Cleveland will rely on star players Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley a little bit heavier in the Eastern Conference matchup.
The Knicks are dealing with some injuries of their own, as Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson have both been listed out for the contest.
