Cowboys dealt huge blow over potential Maxx Crosby trade

9 hours ago 2

Social media was in overdrive when news filtered through that the Dallas Cowboys were thought to be entertaining the idea of trading for Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

A big move like that from owner Jerry Jones isn't normal, and considering the team just traded away Micah Parsons, the move might have seemed a little odd. Like, just keep Micah?

Anyways, with Trey Wingo reporting that the Cowboys were looking at Crosby, it didn't take long for several people in the know in Dallas to think this move was a little off.

Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan stated, "On the Cowboys' end of it, this appears to be news to them. I think they're interested in trade opportunities. But right now, I think Trey is reporting this from the Raiders end of things."

And now comes NFL Network's Tom Pelissero to put an end to any talk of Maxx leaving Las Vegas.

Pelissero posted on X that the Raiders met with Crosby and told him they would not be trading him, and that Crosby wants to stay with the Raiders.

So, there you have it, over before it really began.

Do Cowboys need to make Maxx Crosby-like trade?

Putting it simply, Dak Prescott and the offense are too good to waste this year. Defensive help has to come.

With the draft capital from the Micah trade, the Cowboys do have the means to swing a move and part ways with one of their two first-rounders. Pass rush is a need, so too is some more firepower along the defensive line, as Matt Eberflus' defense has holes everywhere.

We know what the offense is, but this defense needs to pull its weight. Acquiring one or two players in the coming weeks might bump up this Dallas defense to "average," and then Brian Schottenheimer's team can cook.

But as far as the Crosby talk, it never really got off the ground before it was rightfully squashed.
