Catherine O’Hara, the actress who became one of American’s most famous movie moms for her roles in iconic films from Beetlejuice to Home Alone and later in the hit comedy series Schitt’s Creek, as well as the 2000 comedy-drama Best in Show, has passed at the age of 71.

Her cause of death has not been made public. TMZ was the first to report the news of her passing.

The Emmy-winning actress’s former manager confirmed the news of her passing on Friday.

Several of O’Hara’s Hollywood peers poured out love on Friday, most notable among them was her Home Alone co-star Macaulay Culkin.

“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,”  the actor said on Instagram.

“Catherine O’Hara brought love and light to our world, through whipsmart compassion for the collection of eccentrics she portrayed…such a loss for her family and friends, and the audience she graced as friends,”said Meryl Streep who co-starred with O’Hara in Heartburn.
