Emma being short for Flight MH17 somehow makes perfect sense in the world of cat names. Only a cat owner could start with something so wildly specific, somehow shorten it to a completely normal human name, and never question it again. Imagine telling someone your cat is named Emma, only for them to ask what it's short for and having to explain that one.

Naming a cat after a fridge is exactly the kind of decision we expect from cat people. Why scroll through endless lists of pet names when the perfect inspiration is already sitting in the kitchen? We're not sure what a cat has to do to earn a refrigerator-inspired name, but we fully support it. Appliance names might just be an untapped category of excellent cat names.
