Carson Beck projected draft pick sees stock rising rapidly, impacting NFL teams needing QB like Steelers, Jets

1 hour ago 4

It's the kind of buzz that only exists as the NFL Draft gets very close.

In this case, it's about former Georgia and Miami QB Carson Beck. And the draft stock news is this: Beck is climbing draft boards, rapidly.

Is it just an odd bit of smoke and reporting, or is it real? That'll only really show itself when the draft is underway.

But NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has said he wouldn't rule out Beck in the first round, and if not then, that he could get picked in an early round.

Given that Beck hasn't been viewed that way at any point in the process, it's quite the development.

The Beck buzz goes hand in hand with teams that might want to draft a quarterback -- potentially, teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.

This news cycle can go two ways. Pelissero could be hearing that a team like that is hoping to draft Beck quite early just to ensure they don't miss out on him, so it may be the plan already.

On the flip side, there could be intel coming to Pelissero about Beck simply deserving to go earlier, and by reporting it, it potentially pushes the Steelers, Jets or another team like them into action at a point they weren't planning on considering Beck.

Either way, it'll be worth watching.
