Atletico Madrid are betting it all on the UCL: Will it work?

Atletico Madrid’s season has turned from one filled with possible successes to one that relies on one goal that many consider them not up to the task for.

Atletico Madrid are in serious danger of missing out on silverware yet again

After eliminating Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, a double was on the cards for Atletico, as they had a Copa del Rey final date with Real Sociedad, who were coming in as big underdogs. 

After a tight and tense match, Real Sociedad were able to upset the favorites in penalties and win the trophy. To make matters worse for Atletico, they are completely out of the La Liga title race and will now have to face off against English juggernaut Arsenal in the UCL. 

It seems like Atletico Madrid’s approach to discarding their La Liga matches in order to win trophies will backfire tremendously if they can’t get past Arsenal and reach the Champions League final.
