After 52 years, the New York Knicks finally won another championship in 2026. It was a team effort, but there were a few players who stood out, headlined by Jalen Brunson. However, he will be the first person to say that he had some help from his fantastic teammates.
That includes OG Anunoby, who made one of the biggest plays in NBA history in Game 4 of the Finals. During that game, the Knicks were down big to the San Antonio Spurs. They clawed back from 29 points down, and they won the game by one point via an Anunoby putback with 1.2 seconds remaining.
Carmelo Anthony sees OG Anunoby's tip-in as the greatest moment in sports
Over the years, the Knicks have had plenty of iconic moments. However, for five decades, they did not lead to a championship. Carmelo Anthony was a prominent player for the Knicks in the 2010s, but beyond some moments in the regular season, he could not lead the Knicks to a championship.
That all changed in the 2026 Playoffs because the Knicks were actually losing to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. Head coach Mike Brown and the Knicks' players seemingly flipped a switch, as they went unbeaten from Game 4 of the series against Atlanta until Game 3 of the 2026 Finals against the Spurs.

That Finals was mostly decided by the Knicks winning Game 4 by going on a legendary comeback. While there were plenty of big moments during the run, it was the exclamation point of Anunoby's game-winner that became iconic not only to the Knicks, but for fans like Anthony as well.
"That's probably the greatest moment to me, in sports. When you think about it, that moment, the way the Knicks were down, we were losing, then came back... The way they just rallied back and came down to that tip-in. It's funny in Knicks history, from the dark days of missing the tip-in to actually making the tip-in," Anthony said in an interview with SNY TV's Ian Begley.
That moment will live on in Knicks history as one of the greatest plays for the franchise. For Anthony, that is the best sports moment, and many Knicks fans would agree with him because it essentially won them the series becuase if he had missed, the series would have been tied at two games apiece.
