Top seed Carlos Alcaraz will face sixth seed Taylor Fritz in the group stage of the ATP Finals 2025.

Alcaraz was up against Alex de Minaur in his first group tie. An early break helped the Spaniard take charge of the contest, building a comfortable 4-1 lead. However, de Minaur clawed his way back into the set to even the score. With no more breaks of serve after that, the set went to a tie-break.

De Minaur pulled ahead 5-3 in the tie-break, only for Alcaraz to sweep the next four points to snatch the set from him. The two traded service breaks to start the second set, after which the World No. 1 went on a four-game run to go 5-1 up. After a hold of serve by de Minaur, Alcaraz served out the match for a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win.

Fritz took on Lorenzo Musetti in his first match of the group stage. Despite the occasional pushback from his opponent, the American was able to snag one break of serve in each set, thus sealing a 6-3, 6-4 victory in his favor.

The first set almost slipped out of Alcaraz's grasp in spite of being in a comfortable position. However, he flipped the script in time to claim it, and then stormed to victory against de Minaur. He won 63 percent of his first serve points, and struck 32 winners against 28 unforced errors.

Fritz was all over Musetti's serve, generating 12 break points throughout the match and converting two of them. He won 84 percent of points behind his first serve, and hit 29 winners against 11 unforced errors.

Fritz will now aim to win back-to-back matches for the first time since his run to the Japan Open final, where he lost to Alcaraz. The Spaniard arrived at the ATP Finals on shaky ground as well. His streak of nine consecutive finals came to an abrupt end with a second-round loss to Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters.

Fritz has gone 4-4 against top 10 players this year, while Alcaraz has a 14-3 record against his fellow top 10 cohorts. The six-time Major champion also has an impressive 68-8 record this year. Given what we've seen from each player this year, Alcaraz will be the favorite to win.

Pick: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
