It's been quite the clay court season for Carlos Alcaraz and the French Open hasn't even begun.
The young Spaniard has won the Monte-Carlo and Italian Opens this year. He's just the fifth man ever to win all three Masters 1000 clay events with his two Madrid titles.
His most recent win came over World No. 1 and rival Jannik Sinner. He defeated the Italian decisively in two sets with all of Rome watching.
After the victory, the newest ATP rankings have more good news for Alcaraz.
The Spaniard has jumped Alexander Zverev to become the No. 2 ranked player in the world.
Here's a look at the updated rankings courtesy of tennis journalist José Morgado:
New ATP Top 10:
1. Sinner, 10.380
2. Alcaraz, 8.850 (+1)
3. Zverev, 7.285 (-1)

5. Draper, 4.610
6. Djokovic, 4.080

Zverev fell in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open to Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian also rose a spot, to No. 8, after reaching the semifinals.
The combination of Zverev's loss and Alcaraz taking 1000 points for winning the title has caused a shakeup in the rankings.
It sets the tone for what could be an exciting French Open. The first round begins Sunday, May 25. Zverev lost to Alcaraz last year at Roland-Garros and the stakes are even higher this time around.
The Spaniard will enter one of the biggest tournaments of the year with the wind at his back.
