Finally, they have secured their man as Ancelotti will leave the famed Spanish club as the most successful coach in their history, joining Brazil in his first national team position.

When will Carlo Ancelotti take charge of Brazil?

Carlo Ancelotti will step down as Real Madrid manager and take over as Brazil head coach at the conclusion of the current La Liga season. Real Madrid have their final match of the campaign on May 25 against Real Sociedad, and thus he is expected to begin his new role with Brazil on May 26.

Ancelotti will go straight into his new role, with Brazil set to play a World Cup qualifier on the road against Ecuador on June 6, meaning his first squad list will be announced around May 27, the day after he takes charge of the role officially.

He will then lead the Selecao into a subsequent match against Paraguay on June 10, his first home match in charge of the national team.

Carlo Ancelotti Brazil contract, salary

According to a number of reports, Carlo Ancelotti has signed a 14-month contract with Brazil that will run through the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and includes an option to extend the deal further at the end of the tournament.

Spanish publication AS reports Ancelotti will make €10 million over the life of the initial contract, with a €5 million bonus for winning the 2026 World Cup.

There is also a clause in the contract arranging a friendly match between Brazil and Real Madrid to serve as a tribute to the most successful manager in Los Blancos history and the deep connection between the two entities. It's not yet clear when this match will be played.

Who will be in Ancelotti's first Brazil squad?

Carlo Ancelotti will have an incredibly quick turnaround from the end of his Real Madrid tenure to the start of his new Brazil job.

As such, he could call in a number of familiar faces to his first Brazil squad in charge, and is unlikely to make too many radical decisions.

However, three of his four Brazil players from Real Madrid may not be involved, as Vinicius Jr. picked up an ankle injury at the tail end of the 4-3 Clasico defeat to Barcelona on May 11, while Rodrygo picked up an injury in training shortly afterwards and his status is unclear.

Add in the continued ACL recovery for Eder Militao, and Endrick could be the only holdover from Ancelotti's Real Madrid squad.

Ancelotti has reportedly "made contact" with Neymar about his potential return to the national team setup.
