Cardinals reportedly to promote highly-anticipated 34-homer outfield prospect to MLB

The St. Louis Cardinals have been hovering around a Wild Card spot all season long, though they now sit on the outside looking in for the playoffs.

Considering this was meant to be a rebuilding year, just being as close as they are is a big win. The year's gone great with breakouts from multiple key prospects and youngsters. Jordan Walker and JJ Wetherholt might be joined soon by a very fun prospect.

According to MLB insider Mike Rodriguez, the Cardinals are reportedly planning to promote outfield prospect Joshua Baez to the big leagues. The 34-homer outfield prospect is finally getting his shot, and he's a very exciting prospect for Cardinals fans to watch.

"According to my sources, Dominican outfielder Joshua Baez has been called up to the Major Leagues by the St. Louis Cardinals," Rodriguez reports.

This prospect promotion would be a massive one for the Cardinals, and while it's not yet official, this report is one worth getting excited about.

Baez, the 23-year-old outfield prospect, is one of the top prospects in the Cardinals organization. Raniel Rodriguez, Liam Doyle, and Alexander Frias are great prospects, but they are further away than Baez, who's now reportedly getting his shot.

The right-handed hitting outfield deserves it too. This season, in 103 games across 410 at-bats in Triple-A, Baez is hitting .256 with a .901 OPS.

He has 105 hits, 79 runs scored, 22 doubles, three triples, and 34 home runs with 90 RBIs and 37 walks. He strikes out a lot, with 136 strikeouts this season. But his incredible power is something worth getting excited about.

Baez is also a good baserunner, stealing 21 bases this season, 54 the year prior, 29 in 2023, and 30 back in 2022.

Having Baez in the Cardinals' lineup will be very fun, and pairing him with Walker, Wetherholt, Alec Burleson, and Ivan Herrera should make the Cardinals a very intriguing offense.

This move isn't official just yet, but Cardinals fans should expect to see Baez up in the big leagues very soon for what should be a very exciting debut.
