Cardinals make $75 million Michael Wilson decision after breakout year

The Arizona Cardinals are rebuilding their team, but if there is one thing that this team has going for it heading into the 2026 NFL season, it's their offensive skill group.

Trey McBride at tight end and Jeremiyah Love and Tyler Allgeier at running back are some great building blocks. At wide receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson are two solid receivers as well.

The Cardinals want to keep this core locked up for a while, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the Cardinals have agreed to terms on a massive $75 million contract extension for Wilson that keeps the breakout WR in Arizona for a while.

Cardinals agree to $75M deal with Michael Wilson

"The #AZCardinals' deal for WR Michael Wilson is a 3-year, $75M extension with a maximum value of $78M, per me and @AdamSchefter," Rapoport reports. "He gets $47M guaranteed in a deal negotiated by Andrew Kessler at Athletes First."

This is a significant payday for Wilson, the 26-year-old receiver drafted at the tail-end of the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

After back-to-back seasons with 566 and 548 receiving yards with three and four touchdowns, respectively, to begin his career, Wilson broke out in a big way in 2026.

He caught 78 of 126 targets for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns, as he finally broke out catching passes from Jacoby Brissett.

While he still needs to do it one more time to prove he's as good a WR as he showed last season, the Cardinals aren't taking any chances, locking him up to a long-term deal ahead of what would've been the last year of his rookie deal.

Wilson and Harrison, alongside Love and McBride, now make up the core of the Cardinals' offense for the next three-plus seasons.

If the Cardinals can just improve the offensive line and find their franchise quarterback, this offense could be really good. Agreeing to this long-term deal with Wilson is a good start, and for the fourth-year WR, it's great money after a big breakout season in 2026.
