Cardi B has once again turned heads at the Met Gala.
The rapper went green on Monday’s 2025 red carpet in a plunging velvet Burberry suit by designer Daniel Lee, paying homage to the night’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
The theme honors black dandyism and menswear in particular, with the night’s co-chairs including A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton.
Cardi — who sported dramatic green eyeshadow and matching contacts, and wore her hair in a voluminous teased lob — and worked with stylist Law Roach to achieve the show-stopping look.
“For Cardi’s look, we liked the idea of a tailored, feminine dandy,” Lee told Vogue. “Cardi gives main-character energy, and her look reflects this.”
He added of the inspiration, “We looked at Victorian dress and corsetry. There was one particular image we found of an emerald green gown from the 19th century: The back of the gown had a circular cutout, which, for the time, would have been controversial. We liked this idea of non-conformity, keeping with the spirit of Dandyism.”
Cardi has never shied away from a dramatic moment at the annual gala; last year, the Grammy winner wore a voluminous black tulle ballgown by Windowsen’s Sensen Lii that completely overwhelmed the red carpet.
Though she showed up looking fresh-faced, the musician revealed after the red carpet that she had considered wearing old-age prosthetics for the event in honor of the dress code, “Garden of Time.”
For her debut in 2018, Cardi — who was pregnant with her first child with ex-husband Offset — wore an incredible Moschino dress and matching headpiece encrusted with pearls and colorful gems.
In 2019, she upped the ante with a stunning red Thom Browne gown that featured an enormous feather train, a matching hood and even ruby nipples.
Even Anna Wintour herself was impressed, as the Vogue editor-in-chief said the appearance changed her view of the star.
We bet Wintour will give her stamp of approval for this year’s look, too.
