And now in the KHL, Kuznetsov is pushing the limits of how slowly you can take a penalty shot.

You've just got to watch this before we dig any deeper. This is Kuznetsov attempting to win a game in the penalty shootout:

Obviously, that would be a lot cooler if he scored at the end of it.

He's playing right now for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL. He has played 17 games for that club, scoring six goals with 10 assists.

This is actually his second team of the season. He began it with Magnitogorsk Metallurg, for whom he scored one goal with eight assists in 15 games.

Kuznetsov played last season for St. Petersburg SKA -- 12 goals and 25 assists in 39 games.

He last played in the NHL in 20 games for the Hurricanes in 2023-24. Before that, he had played 12 seasons for the Capitals.

His NHL career-best season was 2017-18, which is also the year Washington won the Stanley Cup. That year, he had 27 goals and 56 assists for 83 points in 79 regular season games.

He has taken slow penalty shots before, but never quite like the one captured in that video above.

Maybe he ought to speed up a little bit. But also shoutout to the goalie who didn't get out of position on the slow approach.

It's certainly not something you'll see on the ice all that often.
