Candace Parker rips WNBA players over Caitlin Clark All-Star voting: 'You've got some insecurities'

1 hour ago 3

The debate surrounding Caitlin Clark's place among the WNBA's biggest stars isn't going away anytime soon. Despite earning an All-Star starting spot for the second consecutive season, the Indiana Fever guard sparked widespread discussion after the league released the player voting results. Clark received the 11th-most votes from her fellow WNBA players among guards, a result that surprised many around the basketball world.

Now, one of the most respected voices in the sport is weighing in—and she isn't holding back. During the latest episode of the "Post Moves" podcast with Fever star Aliyah Boston, WNBA legend Candace Parker delivered a blunt assessment of Clark's standing among her peers.

Candace Parker questions Caitlin Clark's player vote

Parker said she couldn't understand how Clark received so little support from fellow players.

"It's also kinda crazy," Parker said. "I wholeheartedly believe that there need to be some rules with the WNBA players, because this is getting out of hand. Caitlin Clark being voted 11th-best guard by WNBA players, that's crazy."

Boston quickly agreed with Parker's assessment, saying she also thought the voting outcome was surprising. Technically, Clark wasn't voted the league's 11th-best guard. Rather, she received the 11th-highest total of top-four votes among guards on player ballots. Still, the result meant 10 guards finished ahead of Clark in player voting, fueling another round of debate about how she's viewed around the league.

Candace Parker saying Caitlin Clark being voted as the 11th-best guard by WNBA players is “crazy”

“You’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th-best guard. Y’all need to go to a therapist.”

Parker says the voting reflects 'insecurities'

Parker became even more outspoken as the conversation continued.

"I think people need to look at themselves in the mirror and realize you've got some insecurities if you're sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th-best guard," Parker said.

She continued by saying players should "go to a therapist and figure out what childhood issues you have" if they genuinely viewed Clark that low among the league's guards. The comments quickly spread across social media, with fans once again debating whether Clark receives the same level of respect from fellow players that she receives from fans and media members.

Clark still earned an All-Star starting spot

While the player voting generated headlines, it ultimately had little impact on Clark's All-Star status. The Fever star comfortably earned a starting nod after the combined fan, media and player voting was calculated.

Clark has remained one of the WNBA's biggest attractions throughout the 2026 season while helping guide Indiana into playoff contention. She continues to rank among the league leaders in several statistical categories and has been central to the Fever's resurgence. Parker has frequently defended Clark throughout the past year, praising both her impact on the court and the attention she has brought to the league.

Her latest comments add another chapter to one of the WNBA's most talked-about storylines, with the All-Star voting process once again becoming a flashpoint in conversations surrounding Clark's place among the league's elite.
