Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes fought back tears while taking full responsibility for the 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

Dobes entered the game with an unbeaten 5-0-0 record. He made 24 saves (.857 SV%) and kept the Habs alive through a lopsided third period. Jack Hughes ended it with a breakaway goal 1:23 into overtime.

After the game, Jakub Dobes said the team played well but that his effort fell short in securing the win:

"Played good enough to win. Just not good enough from my side. I don't know. Really hard. Yeah. This is a tough one...I mean, it just sucks. Last year it was not enough. It happened last year, it happened this year. We lose to those guys in overtime. So, just disappointed in myself. That's pretty much it."

Despite taking the blame, coach Martin St. Louis came out in support of the young netminder. He said:

"Everybody handles situations differently, and he took it hard; it's probably a big reason why he's at this level, he's probably demanding of himself... We'll talk to Dobs, he's played really well for us."

Dobes has posted a 6-0-1 record with 171 saves, a 1.97 GAA, and a .930 save percentage through seven starts this season.
