Who will be one step closer to gold? Canada and Guatemala face off in the Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinals. There's still a ways to go before a champion is crowned, but it all starts now.
The Group A winner and Group C runner-up will play in Minneapolis, part of a playoff doubleheader with the USA-Costa Rica following. Canada-Guatemala will kick off on Sunday, June 29.
Both squads are hoping to make their mark on the tournament this year. While Canada has won one championship, coming in 2000, Gautemala is looking for its first, though it did place fourth in 1996.
When it comes to scoring throughout the group stage, Canada has the upper-hand, recording nine goals compared to Guatemala's four. An underdog should never be looked down on, though, as false confidence can be dangerous for squads in this stage in the game.
