Been almost 2 decades since I've had a cat, and my GF has never had one before...and now we've got two! Meet Penelope & Pearl, both born August 25th, 2025 (so exactly 6 weeks old yesterday) into a litter of seven. Both are microchipped and both have been through three rounds of de-

worming and two rounds of vaccinations. We have our initial vet visit later this afternoon. Just getting them acclimated to our apartment and trying to spend as much time to them as possible (I WFH so I'm always within sight of them, trying to get them used to my presence).

We got stainless steel litter boxes (one upstairs and one downstairs, although they haven't been downstairs yet), a water fountain, a new soft-sided crate, a bunch of toys, a scratching post that just arrived a little bit ago, and a tension rod cat tree coming next week.

Pearl (the grey one) is a bit on the shy side, and Penelope (the dilute tortie) is definitely on the more rambunctious side. For now, anyway.

Day 1, we played with them for a few hours and fed them lunch (1pm) and dinner (8pm) when we eat lunch and dinner. Gave them as much pets as they'd allow. Got a pet gate to keep them in a room but Pearl was able to jump over it already.

lap and just purrs like crazy! Then they both start cleaning themselves and go back into their crate and nap from the food coma. I expect they'll be out and ready to explore some more once they wake up. Can't stop smiling with these two around!

Ditania Yey! You kept 2 siblings together! That is so good for them! Staying with Penelope will be so benefitial for Pearl and will help her to be less shy! I'm so happy for them!

  • Always a good call to keep siblings together. Having a built-in best friend makes settling in easier, keeps them entertained, and gives them comfort while they grow up side by side.
