Cam Skattebo suffered a ligament tear in the Week 8 matchup against the Eagles, and he soon underwent surgery.
Physical therapist Dr. Tom Christ discussed Skattebo's injury in an interview with Fox News.
"It’s infection control," Christ said. "We kind of thought this from watching the injury — both the tibia and fibula snapped. And what happens when they snap is sometimes the bone can protrude through the skin. That was definitely a concern if you saw the play. "But it was an open fracture, meaning the skin has been compromised. Now, any bacteria from his sock, the field, wherever, can easily get into the skin. And since the bone is fractured, it could get into the bone itself."Skattebo had played eight matchups this season and recorded 410 yards rushing and five touchdowns.
Chloe Rodriguez shares a glimpse of Cam Skattebo's rookie season amid injury
Cam Skattebo's girlfriend, Chloe Rodriguez, shared several photos from her outings to watch the New York Giants rookie this season, along with a heartfelt caption.
"so far so good <3," she wrote. Her post began with a photo of the couple hugging on the sidelines, followed by a shot of her cheering in a Giants blue hoodie. She also included a few pictures with friends from game day.
The Giants have lost seven games this season. Their only wins were against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 and then against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.
