After the New York Giants' Week 5 tie to the Washington Commanders, John Harbaugh made the controversial decision to bench Cam Skattebo in Week 6. He barely played and didn't touch the ball once.

It came after Skattebo's fumble cost the Giants the win in Week 5 and was a tough blow to Skattebo's stock. Unfortunately, things might've gotten even worse for Skattebo ahead of Week 7.

ESPN's Dan Graziano revealed that the Giants might either add a running back to bolster the depth chart or hand the reins over to Tyrone Tracy Jr. going forward. Unfortunately for Skattebo, it appears he's fallen well down the depth chart.

Cam Skattebo gets bad news for Week 7 with Giants' potential RB plan

"They'd also love to alter things at running back, apparently," Graziano writes. "The new coaching staff has clearly soured on Cam Skattebo, the Giants just released Najee Harris, and it wouldn't be shocking to see them add someone from the outside or give Tyrone Tracy Jr. a bigger chance."

While this isn't an official update from the Giants or Harbaugh, what this report from Graziano indicates is that Skattebo's role in this offense has completely cratered.

He was already in a shaky spot after his Week 5 fumble in overtime, which got worse once Harbaugh benched him in Week 6 against the leaky New Orleans Saints defense.

But now, heading into Week 7 against the Houston Texans, not only have they made a change to roll with J.J. McCarthy at quarterback, but it appears Skattebo is going to be more than just a one-week benching.

Now, it might not be a question of how much work Skattebo gets, but rather if he gets any work at all during game day.

Seeing the fan favorite running back turn into a healthy scratch would be the next step Harbaugh could take to really put Skattebo in the doghouse.

It seems clear now that the Giants will not be rolling with Skattebo as the starting running back, unlike how they began the season. Tracy, Devin Singletary, and maybe another running back will factor into this backfield.

This update from Graziano is quite some bad news for Skattebo, as it seems he'll no longer be a key part of the offense, unlike how it was last season, and to begin this season.
