Since her college days at Iowa, Caitlin Clark has become one of the most popular basketball players in the world.
After becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I history, she was drafted No. 1 overall in 2024 by the Indiana Fever and is now gearing up for her third season, set to begin in May.
She lives and breathes basketball, but like many, she has limits — and hilariously enough, chocolate chip cookies are one of them.
After Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James revealed during the All-Star break that he had to give up chocolate chip cookies to prepare for the NBA season at age 41, Clark commented that she’d rather “retire” than give them up.
“I’d rather retire than do this,” Clark jokingly said. “This is why he’s him.”

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) February 18, 2026There’s still a big difference between Clark and James, despite their fame and mutual respect — and that’s the age gap.
You can’t eat the same amount of sweets at 41 like you can at 24, and that’s something Clark will likely come to realize as she continues her career and looks to rebound after a 2025 campaign plagued by injuries.
She missed all but 13 games due to multiple lower-leg injuries and had to watch as the Fever, despite several season-ending injuries, still managed to reach the WNBA semifinals for the first time since 2015.
Now, the excitement for Clark to hit the floor is palpable. Before the WNBA season begins, fans will get a chance to see her in action during the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament from March 11–17, where she’ll compete for USA Basketball.
