Caitlin Clark's monster muscles ignite fan expectations: 'Going to be shooting from the opposing team's court now?'

Caitlin Clark is getting a lot of attention heading into the WNBA preseason this weekend, and there's one major reason why: her physical transformation from last season to this year cannot be overstated.

Things started when Clark stepped out at the Iowa Hawkeyes' Big Ten Conference Tournament game against Ohio State on March 7 and it became immediately clear that bulking up has been a big part of her offseason game. That lined up with what Coach Stephanie White told Richard Deitsch during a February 18 podcast interview. White said, "She is stronger, first and foremost. She figured out right away that I need to get stronger... She’s done a great job of getting in the weight room and focusing on her strength, in terms of low center of gravity, time under tension, all of those things."

The Fever's media rollout during training camp has also made it clear Clark hasn't been playing around. Even her teammates are commenting on the change; on Wednesday, April 30, Aliyah Boston told reporters, "I feel like everyone talks about it, I see it on social media, Caitlin has such strong muscles, and don’t tell her I said that either. Don’t even mention that."

But if there's one group of people who are extra, extra excited about the physical transformation Clark's undergone, it's Indiana Fever fans on social media. If their tweets and messages are any indication, the expectations for Caitlin Clark specifically this season are higher than sky-high.

After an Indiana Fever fan account shared a photo fo Clark from the team's media day and captioned it, "They Woke a monster!" fans quickly jumped on to add their own commentary. "Is she going to be shooting from the opposing team’s side of the court now?" wrote Allison Bruhn.

"100 men VS one Caitlin Clark," added Jokl_X on X.

"Anything less than MVP and a championship should be considered a failed season," wrote @jeray13.

One thing is clear: when it comes to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, fans can't wait to see what comes next.
