Connor McCaffery is making a switch to a new basketball coaching gig.

The good news for those invested in Caitlin Clark's relationship with McCaffery, her boyfriend, is that he's not going far.

McCaffery spent the past couple seasons as a college basketball assistant for Butler under legendary coach Thad Matta.

Now, McCaffery is moving to the professional ranks. He's going to be a player development coach for the Noblesville Boom.

The Boom are the G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers. McCaffery previously spent one year as part of the Pacers' coaching system before heading to Butler.

McCaffery was a solid player in college at Iowa, where he suited up for his father, Fran.

He and Clark have traveled a lot of their basketball journeys together, and now McCaffery heads to the Boom, where he won't be far from Clark in her starring role with the WNBA's Indiana Fever.

If things go well as a G League coach, McCaffery could start climbing the ladder to a bigger coaching role down the road.
