Caitlin Clark did not simply have a good August. She produced a month unlike any other point guard in WNBA history. The Indiana Fever celebrated Clark’s remarkable run by introducing an appropriate description for it.
“Caitlin Clark’s month of August was HERstoric,” the Fever wrote on X.
The numbers support Indiana’s wordplay.
Clark averaged 24.4 points across 11 August games, helping the Fever go 7-4 during that stretch. According to the team, it was the highest-scoring month ever produced by a WNBA point guard. Her impact went well beyond her own scoring. Clark scored or assisted on 44.7 points per game, establishing another WNBA record for a single month. She also recorded five games with at least 20 points and 10 assists.
No other player had produced five such performances across the previous five seasons combined. Clark also became the first player in league history to post at least 30 points and 10 assists in consecutive games. It was a stretch that captured her growth from a spectacular individual playmaker into the engine of one of the WNBA’s best teams.
Clark’s historic month changed Indiana’s expectations
Indiana enters the final portion of the regular season at 26-14, already securing the best record in franchise history. The Fever are no longer simply hoping to qualify for the playoffs or win a postseason game.

Clark is averaging 22.5 points, 8.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds this season while shooting career-best percentages from the field and 3-point range. Her improved efficiency has made it much more difficult for opponents to decide how they want to defend Indiana.
Pressure Clark aggressively, and she can find Boston, Kelsey Mitchell or one of Indiana’s shooters. Give her space, and she can create her own shot from well beyond the arc.

Going forward
The most encouraging part for the Fever may be that Clark carried her August form into international competition. She opened the World Cup with 14 points and 11 assists in Team USA’s 94-61 win over China.
There are still important games ahead, but Clark’s August performance deserves to be remembered regardless of how Indiana’s season ends.
“HERstoric” may have been designed as a catchy social media nickname. In this case, it was also an accurate description.
