The Detroit Pistons continued their impressive postseason run Thursday night, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-97 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Led once again by All-Star guard Cade Cunningham, the Pistons showed poise and balance on both ends of the floor. Cunningham finished with 25 points and 10 assists, controlling the tempo throughout the game while making key plays during critical stretches. Veteran forward Tobias Harris added 21 points, providing steady scoring and leadership as Detroit maintained control for much of the night.

Detroit’s defense also played a major role in the victory, limiting Cleveland’s offensive rhythm outside of standout performances from Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen. Mitchell poured in 31 points to lead the Cavaliers, while Allen bounced back from a disappointing Game 1 with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Despite those efforts, Cleveland struggled to slow down Detroit’s balanced attack and ball movement. The Pistons consistently found open shots and capitalized on transition opportunities, frustrating the fourth-seeded Cavaliers throughout the contest.

Pistons stay hot

The victory marks Detroit’s fifth straight playoff win after facing elimination against the Orlando Magic in the first round. Since then, the top-seeded Pistons have looked like one of the league’s most complete teams, combining strong defense with efficient offensive execution.

Now holding a 2-0 series advantage, Detroit heads to Cleveland with momentum firmly on its side. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday, where the Cavaliers will look to protect home court after previously going 4-0 at home against the Toronto Raptors in the opening round.

If the Pistons continue playing at this level, they could find themselves moving one step closer to the Eastern Conference Finals.
