C.J. Gardner-Johnson is probably already making attempts to land Trevon Diggs in Chicago. The Dallas Cowboys waived Diggs with one week remaining in the regular season. This season, he appeared in only eight games due to a right knee issue and a concussion sustained at home while trying to install a television mount.

The cornerback is now looking to join a postseason team to make a run to the Super Bowl. B/R Gridiron shared a post asking NFL fans which contending team they think should sign Diggs. Gardner-Johnson reshared the post with a two-word reaction.

"🐻👀," Gardner-Johnson wrote.

Trevon Diggs struggled a lot in 2025, recording 25 tackles with zero interceptions and zero pass breakups across his eight appearances. He played in just 21 games over the past two seasons due to recurring knee injuries, including a torn ACL in 2023 and a chondral graft surgery in early 2024. He also surrendered 17.9 yards per reception when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus.

Diggs' best outing came against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Week 16 loss. He recorded four solo tackles and two assists in a 34-17 defeat. The former Cowboys cornerback failed to reach the five-tackle mark in every game except that.

Any team claiming Diggs on waivers would assume his $472,222 base salary for Week 18, plus $58,823 if he is active for that week, making it likely he clears waivers and becomes a free agent. With no guaranteed money remaining on his deal beyond this season, Diggs has complete flexibility to choose his next destination.

How can Trevon Diggs help the Chicago Bears?

The Chicago Bears are an attractive landing spot for Trevon Diggs. Caleb Williams and Co. clinched the NFC North with an 11-5 record and could secure the NFC's No. 2 seed by defeating the Detroit Lions in Week 18. The Bears' defense ranks first in the NFL with 22 interceptions.

Al Harris, the Bears' defensive backs coach, previously held the same position with the Dallas Cowboys during Diggs' tenure there. The San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the New England Patriots have also been speculated as a possible landing spot for the CB.
