The relationship between center fielder Byron Buxton and the Minnesota Twins has been one of the most productive and long-standing connections between a player and another franchise in recent memory.
Since entering the league in 2015, Buxton has made steady improvements almost every season and was eventually rewarded with a seven-year, $100 million extension in 2021. Not to mention, last season, the outfielder hit a career-high 35 home runs and 83 RBI.
During the offseason, it was reported that Buxton felt 'disrespected' by the organization after not being announced as untouchable in any trade discussion, even though the Silver Slugger has a no-trade clause in his contract.

However, aside from the dispute, it had not changed Buxton's long-term view of remaining with the organization, and he discussed why he has that strong attachment to Minnesota, citing loyalty as a huge reason.
Buxton clearly states he wants to finish his career in Minnesota
"That means the world to me. Coming up, that was my one goal: Playing with one team. I never wanted to put on another uniform," Buxton exclaimed.
The Gold Glove winner also doubled down on why he would prefer to stay with Minnesota while also shutting down any potential of him playing for the Atlanta Braves, his hometown team.
"My gym is all Twins colors, everything is here. I don't have no Braves pictures, and that ain't what I want. It's the loyalty for me," Buxton declared.
Buxton is entering the fifth year of his seven-year extension and hopes to build on his best statistical season while helping the Twins return to the postseason after missing the postseason the last two seasons.
