English comedian and podcaster Russell Brand took a jab at his ex-wife Katy Perry's reportedly growing romance with Justin Trudeau. On Thursday, Brand was speaking at Turning Point's annual AmericaFest. While delivering a speech on faith, Brand hit out at former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry, saying:

“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” Russell Brand said.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry tied the knot in 2010 and parted ways two years later. According to People, the English comedian filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Later, the pop star began dating Orlando Bloom in 2016. They got engaged in 2019 and also welcomed a daughter in 2020. However, earlier this year, Perry and Bloom called off their engagement.

The pop star was recently romantically linked to the former Canadian PM. On December 6, Katy Perry shared a series of photos on her Instagram in which she was seen enjoying her Tokyo trip with Justin Trudeau.

Earlier this year, in January, Trudeau stepped down from his position. At the time, Russell Brand called it a "Christmas gift." In his podcast, Russell Brand said:

"Justin Trudeau is a person that I basically would never have heard of or cared about other than for his over-totalitarian and authoritarian stance during the pandemic... The way that he used wokeism as a kind of means to assert social control, surely Lord, on some interpersonal level, he's probably an okay person, but as an emblem of a particular type of politics."

Russell Brand disputes Ben Shapiro's narrative in his AmFest speech

Conservative media personality Ben Shapiro blasted Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson in his speech at Thursday's event. Shapiro slammed Owens for her alleged theories surrounding Charlie Kirk's assassination. Later, Russell Brand took the stage and expressed a differing opinion.

"I see things differently from Ben Shapiro. I got to tell you, whilst I respect him, I respect his faith, and I respect that we worship and praise the same God. I recognize that. But I believe it's important and vital to have conversations with people that oppose difficult opinions and opposing opinions. I've spoken to Nick Fuentes. I've spoken to Candace Owens. They're Christians like you and like me," Brand said.

In his speech, Russell Brand praised Donald Trump and said that "he performed near miracles in office." However, he critiqued the POTUS for his recent comments on the late director Rob Reiner.

"When Donald Trump makes a post like he made about Rob Reiner, God bless, and God rest Rob Reiner's eternal soul, I would say that's further evidence of Trump's lack of filter. Trump makes mistakes. He says things that are regrettable."

Elsewhere in his speech, the English comedian remembered Charlie Kirk and said he was inspired by the late activist. He revealed that it was Kirk who invited him to speak at the event.
