The Chicago Bulls had an impressive win Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Josh Giddey and the rest of the team overcame a 24-point deficit, and capped it off with a Nikola Vučević game-winning three-pointer.
In the 113-111 victory, Giddey posted a 29-point, 15-rebound, 12-assist triple-double, an incredible stat line for any player.
This win over the 76ers puts them at 6-1 for the season, landing them at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Before they played the 76ers, they faced off against the New York Knicks and suffered their only loss so far this season.
It wasn’t all bad, however, because in that game, Giddey joined Michael Jordan in an extremely exclusive club.
His 23-point, 12-rebound, 12-assist stat line makes him the first Chicago Bull since Michael Jordan to post back-to-back triple-doubles.
Jordan completed this feat just five years into his NBA career, in April of 1989.
He scored 40 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, and followed it up with 47 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists against the Indiana Pacers.
Giddey certainly hasn't replicated what Jordan did, but he is talented enough to have his name in the same sentence as his.
The Bulls were smart enough to trade for Giddey in June of 2024.
He was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Alex Caruso, who has since won a championship with the team.
When Giddey was drafted in 2021, scouts were certain he wouldn’t become the player he is.
His weaknesses that were represented on his scouting report during the draft process were his ball-handling, his shot creation, his outside shooting, his on-ball defense, and his athleticism.
These weaknesses didn’t stop Giddey from making history for one of the most successful organizations in the NBA.
