Bulls expected to lose 10 PPG scorer to contract in Europe

The Chicago Bulls probably were going to move on from Guerschon Yabusele this offseason anyway.

The free agent, though, apparently never had any intention of returning to Chicago.

Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus suggests in a new article that Yabusele might not stay in the NBA at all.

"There's an expectation in NBA circles that the forward/center returns overseas to play next season," Pincus writes.

That wouldn't be a total shock, at least based on how the 2025-26 season went for Yabusele.

He had just returned from overseas the season before, and he carved out a really useful role with the Philadelphia 76ers.

That earned him a free agent contract with the New York Knicks, but that fit didn't work at all, and he was traded in the middle of the season to the Bulls.

Yabusele did average 10 points per game in 26 games with Chicago, and it's clear he can still be an NBA contributor if called upon.

Given how he starred in Europe prior to coming back to the NBA with the 'Sixers, though, that path might have appeal to Yabusele.

He was the No. 16 overall pick by the Boston Celtics all the way back in 2016, but he was a bust then who had to head overseas to find his stride.

He found it by the 2024 Olympics with France, and he seemed to keep it up with the 76ers.

Yabusele couldn't continue it last season, and so maybe the Frenchman returns closer to home to find himself on the court yet again.
