Buffalo Bills now know the asking price for T.J. Watt trade

The Buffalo Bills will look much different in 2026 than what fans have grown used to over the last number of years. While Josh Allen will be under center, there will be several new voices and faces on the sideline.

Head coach Sean McDermott was fired after nine seasons. This comes after yet another heartbreaking loss in the postseason, the latest coming at the hands of the Denver Broncos, who hadn't won a playoff game in a decade.

As a result, offensive coordinator Joe Brady was hired as the new head coach, and Jim Leonhard and Pete Carmichael Jr. were hired as defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively.

The Bills still need to make big roster changes, with the additions of a top-tier edge rusher being near the top of the list of needs. One somewhat unexpected name could be available, as T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers may be a name to watch after Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach.

Could the Buffalo Bills trade for Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt?

While many have wondered if the Steelers would trade Watt, the price has largely been up in the air. However, one Steelers insider put a rough estimate on a price tag.

In an appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the Steelers could receive as much as a second-round pick in exchange for Watt if they were willing to send him to another team.

“Top Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo said the most the Steelers could probably get in a trade this offseason for TJ Watt is a 2nd round pick,” Andrew Fillipponi posted on X.

Watt hasn't been at his dominant peak over the last two seasons. After putting up 19 sacks in 2023, he has a combined 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons. That's not to say Watt isn't a quality player - he is - but his best days certainly do appear to be behind him. That, combined with the large price tag that comes with him from a financial standpoint, could see the Bills looking elsewhere for someone like Trey Hendrickson or Maxx Crosby.
