Buddy Matthews has shown his support for his wife, Rhea Ripley, on social media. He posted a message while Ripley's match was ongoing at WWE Money in the Bank 2025.

The Eradicator was part of a ladder match, which featured six women going head-to-head for the MITB briefcase. The bout promised a one-way ticket not only to a future title match but also to a potential world title win. In the past, every holder of the Women's Money in the Bank contract has gone on to win championship gold.

On his latest Instagram Story, Buddy Matthews shared a picture of his routine for the day. This included him going to the gym, having rehab seemingly for his ankle injury, swimming in his pool, and then watching Rhea Ripley potentially win at Money in the Bank. He also mentioned how he was going to watch UFC later tonight.

Buddy Matthews' injury update

At Grand Slam: Australia in February 2025, Matthews challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship. He put up an incredible fight, but eventually fell to the Rainmaker.

A crucial moment that may have led to his downfall was when he sustained an ankle injury before the bell rang. He tweaked his ankle during his entrance, but was able to work through this and have a good match. Last month, he talked about his condition and mentioned how it was not a major injury.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed a few days ago that Matthews was away from AEW TV because he was still working on his recovery and rehabilitation.

Before his absence, Buddy Matthews and Brody King, known as The Hounds of Hell, were on a great run. King has been able to hold his own in Matthews' absence and has cemented his place as a solid singles competitor.

Enzo is a Pro Wrestling journalist at Sportskeeda, reporting on AEW. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Studies, which influenced his decision of taking up sports writing professionally, and has been an avid fan of the athletic theater since childhood. He believes readers deserve authentic and unique content and aims to report in a manner which pro wrestling fans can easily relate to.

Growing up, Enzo admired former world champions like AJ Styles, Will Ospreay, Bryan Danielson, Triple H, and Randy Orton for their finishing moves. As an adult, he started to appreciate their character work, as they juggled between heel and babyface gimmicks.

If allowed to produce one final storyline involving his idols, he would have Orton lock horns with John Cena, would be their one last big feud as both of them seem to be approaching the tail end of their careers.

Other than pro wrestling, Enzo enjoys keeping up with Basketball, Football, and Formula One. He also loves watching films, playing video games, and listening to music.
