Bucks trade pitch nets Milwaukee key depth, young centerpiece

The Milwaukee Bucks likely regret one recent move more than any other, but it isn’t too late to fix their mistake.

Since acquiring Kyle Kuzma at the trade deadline last season, the Bucks have been left wanting more from the former NBA champion. Despite Kuzma’s struggles throughout his short tenure in Milwaukee, it’s still hard to blame him for the team’s shortcomings in the postseason, especially given that this was the third straight year with a first-round exit.

One of the biggest appeals for Milwaukee in getting Kuzma in the first place was his youth compared to Khris Middleton. While Kuzma is younger and, in theory, would lead to a longer window with him in the building, his inconsistency is simply too much for Milwaukee to gamble on.

So, that could be where the Bucks take a stab at making a deal to get a wider array of talent. In ESPN’s latest piece looking at potential Milwaukee trades, it concocted a three-team deal for the Bucks to consider.

In this deal, Milwaukee receives Wendell Carter Jr., Ayo Dosunmu and Jett Howard, Orlando receives Pat Connaughton, Jalen Smith, Jevon Carter and picks, with Chicago getting Kuzma, Andre Jackson Jr. and a second rounder.

Sure, the Bucks are giving out some of their depth in this deal as well. However, getting three relatively young role players who have shown some potential could be perfect for the next era in Milwaukee.

As Antetokounmpo is still potentially weighing his options on the future, a deal to provide him with more help all-around could net the Bucks a long-term window with their MVP.
