Following another premature exit in the postseason, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a hot topic in the NBA in recent weeks. Following some brash comments by Stephen A. Smith, the two-time MVP took to social media to jab back at the longtime analyst.
With the Bucks left with limited options to improve the roster, there has been endless speculation about Giannis asking out of Milwaukee. In the midst of this discourse, Stephen A. let out a bold statement while on "First Take." He stated that if Giannis ends his career with just one championship on his resumé he will view him as an underachiever in the NBA.
As expected, these remarks were met with a lot of backlash from basketball fans. One patron cited everything Giannis has overcome to make it this far, most notably escaping poverty in Greece during his childhood. Giannis ended up sharing this post on his Instagram story, proving that he is unfazed by what Stephen A. had to say about his career.

— BucksShowYo🦌 (@BucksShowYo) June 16, 2025Seeing that plenty of all-time talents went their entire career without winning a title, Giannis should never be viewed as an underachiever. Especially considering that when he was first drafted nobody expected him to become the talent he is today. Giannis is arguably one of the biggest success stories in recent history, making him an overachiever just on his development alone.
Stephen A. doesn't need to put pressure on Giannis, as he already holds himself to a high standard. He's stated on numerous occasions that he wants to add a second championship to his list of accolades. Only time will tell if he'll decide to continue pursuing this goal in Milwaukee or embrace a change of scenery.
