Bucks fan favorite claps back at Stephen A. after insane Giannis Antetokounmpo take

4 hours ago 1

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN has said some interesting things about Giannis Antetokounmpo in the past. In Antetokounmpo’s defense, he shouldn't take it too personal, as Smith will say anything about any player to ever lace them up, no matter how great they are.

However, his recent comments, calling him an underachiever, didn't make much sense.

Even if Smith wants to take basketball out of this situation, this is a man who was selling things on the side of a street, trying to make ends meet for his family when he was growing up. Antetokounmpo has completely defied the odds of being a human, creating generational wealth for a family that had nothing growing up.

And when the basketball side of things gets added into it, he's arguably one of the best 15 players to ever play the game.

Bringing a championship to Milwaukee for the first time in 50 years, staying loyal to a fan base that loves him, winning multiple MVP awards, earning many All-NBA nods, and much more, calling him an underachiever wasn’t right.

But it is what it is, and Antetokounmpo clearly won't let that get to him too much. However, Bobby Portis, the Bucks center/forward, heard the comments and wanted to respond to them.

Instead of the underachiever remark, Portis noted that Milwaukee has dealt with many injuries throughout the postseason in recent years.

"Basketball is a team sport, we've just been very unlucky over the last four years," Portis said. "Every year in the playoffs, we have somebody hurt."

Whether it was Khris Middleton before they traded him, Antetokounmpo dealing with his injuries multiple times, or Damian Lillard tearing his Achilles, the Bucks have been one of the unluckiest teams in the NBA.
