The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally got Mike Evans back on the field against Detroit, but as we know, the football gods have a cruel sense of humor.
After missing the past three weeks with a hamstring injury, Evans returned to the offense and, against the Lions, didn't last the half.
On a deep shot by Mayfield, Evans lunged forward and caught the pass, but he landed heavily on his shoulder and head and was seen down on the ground a while after the play was over. Evans was then quickly ruled out of the game.
It was revealed by head coach Todd Bowles post-game that Evans broke his collarbone, which is a cruel blow to Mayfield and the Buccaneers' offense.
“Obviously, for the team, it's not great, but for him, I hate it,” Mayfield said. “From seeing him work each day in person, whether he's healthy or hurt, how he attacks each day, it just sucks. You never like to see that whether it's a teammate or not, but especially when it's Mike. So, unfortunate, but guys trying to step up and play for him.”

Buccaneers' offensive weapons falling like flies
Already without Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Bucky Irving, we now add Evans to the list as Mayfield's weapons are beginning to fill up the treatment room.
Cade Otton, Emeka Egbuka, and Tez Johnson all tried their best to get things rolling in a positive direction, but just nine points were scored from an offense that has scored at least 25 in its last four games, which isn't great.
While Evans, if all goes well in his recovery per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, could be back by December, that is a lot of games the Buccaneers have to navigate before No. 13 gets back.
There are reinforcements on the way, and at 5-2, Tampa at least has a nice buffer for the next month or so, with a bye week coming soon.
But we're unsure how many more injuries this offense can withstand before the wheels fall off.
